6 hospital pharmacists win ASHP awards

The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists has named the recipients of its 2025 Board of Directors awards, which the organization will present during its national meetings.

Here are the winners who have backgrounds in health system pharmacy: 

Honorary Membership Award for outstanding contributions to pharmacy practice: 

  • Jannet Carmichael, PharmD, former pharmacy executive for Veterans Integrated Services Networks. 
  • Bruce Scott, former pharmacy leader for Minneapolis-based Allina Health. 
  • William Smith, PharmD, PhD, former director of pharmacy services for Long Beach (Calif.) Memorial Medical Center. 

Distinguished Leadership Award for contributions to excellence in pharmacy practice leadership in acute and ambulatory settings:

  • Kenneth Schell, PharmD, former pharmacy leader for Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, Calif., Sharp HealthCare in San Diego and Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. 

Donald E. Francke Medal for pharmacists who have made significant international contributing to advance pharmacy practice:

  • Robert Moss, PharmD, former pharmacy leader for several health systems and hospitals in the Netherlands.

Pharmacy Technician Excellence Award for contributions to excellence in the role of pharmacy techs, advancement of the profession and advancement of pharmacy practice:

  • Erin Atkins, lead pediatric pharmacy technician for WVY Medicine Children’s Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.
