AbbVie and Genentech are the latest drugmakers to sell prescription medications on TrumpRx, CBS News reported April 6.
They are the 10th and 11th drugmakers to offer discounted medications on the website.
TrumpRx now lists AbbVie’s best-selling anti-inflammatory drug Humira — in syringe or pen form — for $950, representing an 86% discount off the list price. Genentech’s antiviral medication Xofluza is also available for $50, down from a list price of $168.
The additions come several months after both drugmakers struck federal drug pricing deals with the Trump administration. Genentech was among nine drugmakers that reached most-favored-nation drug pricing deals in December, which included substantial discounts for select medications on TrumpRx and domestic manufacturing commitments.
Separately, AbbVie reached a three-year agreement with the White House in January to lower drug costs and invest $100 billion over 10 years in domestic research, development and capital projects. Drugmakers that have signed most-favored nation pricing deals are exempt from tariffs for three years.
Since launching in February, TrumpRx’s list has expanded from 43 medications to 69. Amgen also recently added its arthritis treatment Enbrel and plaque psoriasis drug Otezla to the platform.
While TrumpRx is growing, its cost savings and reach have faced scrutiny. The discounted prices are only available to uninsured patients or those paying the full list price out of pocket. Patients with insurance often pay lower copays for the same medications. The Trump administration told CBS News it is working to codify most-favored nation deals, which would extend TrumpRx discounts to Medicare and Medicaid patients.
