The PTEC and the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board launched the certification in March 2025, marking “the first national credential specifically designed for educators, instructors and trainers of pharmacy technicians,” according to a July 29 news release.
To gain certification, educators must pass multiple-choice and written exams within a 12-month period. To be eligible, candidates must have a pharmacy technician certification or pharmacy degree and at least three years’ experience in pharmacy education or training.
