WellCare, NFL team form multiyear partnership to grow Medicare coverage

WellCare signed a multiyear partnership with the Carolina Panthers football team to improve the well-being of older adults throughout the Carolinas.

The partnership creates the Panthers Champions Program, which allows football fans to nominate their grandparents aged 65 and older for their positive impacts on families and their communities, according to the Sept. 28 announcement.

Those honored by the program will receive tickets to Panthers games and custom football jerseys.

"Our partnership with the Carolina Panthers brings a fresh perspective and new approach to how we are working with our members to transform their healthcare journey," said Richard Fisher, senior vice president and CEO of Medicare solutions at Centene, WellCare's parent company. "WellCare is working to simplify the Medicare experience for our members, so they can enjoy more of the activities they love – like Panthers football, tailgates and fan comradery – and to feel connected to a network that brings them better overall health and wellbeing."

WellCare also will be the presenting sponsor of the postgame show on the Panthers Radio Network and the Panthers' Oct. 17 home game against the Minnesota Vikings.
