UPMC’s health insurance division names CMO: 3 notes

Pittsburgh-based UPMC’s health insurance division appointed Joon Lee, MD, CMO, effective May 15.

Three things to know:

1. As CMO of the UPMC Insurance Services Division, which includes the system’s UPMC Health Plan, Dr. Lee will lead a clinical team serving 3.5 million members.

2. In addition to his new role, Dr. Lee will continue his faculty appointment in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Internal Medicine. An interventional cardiologist, he is currently division chief of cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and executive director of UPMC’s Heart and Vascular Institute.

3. Dr. Lee joined the University of Pittsburgh faculty in 1996.
