The Humana change, effective Jan. 1, aimed to close a coverage gap within the West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint Health system. Under a previous owner, UnityPoint’s Pekin, Ill., hospital and its Proctor location in Peoria, Ill., were in Humana’s network; however, its Methodist location in Peoria was not. The new agreement brings all of the locations under Humana’s provider network.
Additionally, Molina and UnityPoint agreed to an in-network contract. UnityPoint previously terminated its contract with Molina for 2018 due to “underlying performance issues,” which have cleared up under new leadership, UnityPoint’s regional CFO, Rob Quin, told the Journal Star.
