UCare names UnitedHealth executive CEO

Minneapolis-based UCare has chosen Jim Eppel, a senior vice president of OptumInsight, as its next CEO, according to Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.

UCare is a nonprofit health plan provider that serves more than 480,000 members in Minnesota and western Wisconsin.

Before joining OptumInsight, an analytics and consulting healthcare company, Mr. Eppel served as COO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, and held executive roles at Medica and Allina Health.

Mr. Eppel will succeed Nancy Feldman, who has led the insurance company for 20 years. Ms. Feldman announced last year that she will retire this summer.
