Tufts Health Plan wins 5-year contract to manage Rhode Island's Medicaid program

The Rhode Island Executive Office of Health and Human Services selected Watertown, Mass.-based Tufts Health Plan to manage the state's Medicaid program.

Under the contract, Tufts will manage Rhode Island's Rite Care and Rhody Health Partners benefits. The plan, called Tufts Health RITogether, will cover members beginning June 1.

Tufts will join two other managed care organizations in the state — Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, The Boston Globe reports. Tufts said it expects an initial 16,000 Medicaid beneficiaries to enroll in its health plan.
