Tufts Health Plan, Steward Health terminate their Medicare agreement

Watertown, Mass.-based Tufts Health Plan and Steward Health Care System in Boston will eliminate their Medicare Advantage agreement by the end of 2016, Boston Globe reports.

About 10,000 Medicare Advantage patients will be affected. Tufts' other policyholders will remain in network with Steward.

A spokesperson from Tufts said the payer and provider could not reach an agreement even with the "best efforts of both organizations," according to the report. A Steward spokesperson said all affected patients have been notified.
