Here are three things to know:
1. For the 39 states using the federal HealthCare.gov exchange, the open enrollment period began Nov. 1 and will close Dec. 15. According to CMS’ data, about 1.2 million Americans enrolled in a plan in these 39 states from Nov. 1 through Nov. 10.
2. About 275,000 of these enrollees were new consumers, and roughly 901,000 were renewals. However, enrollment is lagging by roughly 302,000 Americans when compared to the 2018 period, according to Health Affairs.
3. In other words, the plan selection is down between 8 and 13 percent for 2019 when compared to last year.
