St. Elizabeth Healthcare, WellCare ink value-based contract

Edgewood, Ky.-based St. Elizabeth Healthcare and Lexington, Ky.-based WellCare, a Medicaid and Medicare managed care insurer, entered into a value-based care contract to improve health outcomes of Medicaid and Medicare beneficiaries.

WellCare will work with St. Elizabeth staff to provide quality based improvements and recommendations based on the Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. The insurer will also help the health system navigate the new performance and quality guidelines set by CMS. 

"We are excited to enter into a value-based contract with WellCare. Working together to deliver high-quality care in an efficient manner positions us for success in our communities," Bill Banks, St. Elizabeth Healthcare's vice president of managed care, said.
