Private Medicare enrollment for 7 commercial payers

All but one of seven large commercial payers reported growth in their Medicare Advantage and other private Medicare membership in the third quarter of fiscal year 2019.

Here's how CVS Health-owned Aetna, Anthem, Centene, Cigna, Humana, UnitedHealth Group and WellCare Health Plans stacked up, according to recent financial documents:

Payers are listed in order of greatest year-over-year Medicare enrollment growth as of Sept. 30, 2019. Numbers exclude standalone drug plans.

Aetna: 2.3 million, up 31 percent since December 2018

Anthem: 1.2 million, up 21.3 percent year over year 

Humana: 12.4 million, up 18.2 percent year over year

Cigna: 1.6 million, up 7 percent year over year

UnitedHealth Group: 5.2 million, up 6.4 percent year over year

WellCare Health Plans: 563,000, up 3.5 percent year over year 

Centene: 404,500, down 3.1 percent year over year
