The coalition consists of members representing accountable care providers, employer groups and health insurance providers.
Members support protecting patients from unexpected out-of-network medical bills and establishing a federal benchmark standard regarding payments for providers, the group’s website says.
The coalition also opposes an arbitration process to resolve payment disputes between providers and insurers because it “adds unnecessary cost, delay and bureaucracy to the health system and is particularly harmful for smaller companies.”
Coalition members include AHIP, BCBS Association, National Association of Health Underwriters and America’s Physician Groups.
