Optum awards $1.4M in maternal health grants

UnitedHealth Group's Optum has awarded $1.4 million in grants to five community organizations focused on maternal health.

"By partnering with organizations deeply rooted in the communities they serve, we help improve the health of mothers and newborns and raise awareness about the importance of maternal health and racial disparities in healthcare," Optum CMO Janice Huckaby, MD, said June 30.

The organizations that received grants were Washington D.C.-based Community of Hope; Winston Salem, N.C.-based Wake Forest Baptist Health; Ohio-based Cradle Cincinnati; New York City-based Ladies of Hope Ministries; and Atlanta, Ga.-based Morehouse School of Medicine.
