One-third of employees unhappy with current health plan, survey finds

Nearly one in three workers with health coverage provided by their employer is unhappy with their current plan, according to a survey from UnifiHealth.

The survey of more than 500 respondents tied the sentiment to a lack of understanding of current coverage, as about 20 percent of respondents said they have "little to no understanding" of what their health plan includes, according to UnifiHealth, which released the survey Dec. 15.

Two-thirds of small-business workers covered by their employer said knowing the limitations of their coverage before seeing a physician is a top priority.

A lack of knowledge is also fueling desires to switch coverage, the survey concluded. About 70 percent of small-business employees said they would switch their current health plan if the new one could tell them whether a visit with their physician was covered before attending, according to the report.
