American's insured population topped 90.9 percent in all or part of 2015, according to U.S. Census data from 2014 to 2016.
A September Kaiser Health Tracking Poll found only 26 percent of Americans knew the uninsured rate has hit a historic low of 9.1 percent. The poll was based on a telephone sample of 1,204 U.S. adults.
Here are five findings from the tracking poll.
1. Twenty-one percent of Americans said the U.S. uninsured rate was at an all-time high.
2. Forty-six percent of Americans said the uninsured rate in America is the same as it has been.
3. For individuals who view the Affordable Care Act favorably, 38 percent knew the uninsured rate is at an all-time low.
4. Seventeen percent of Americans with an unfavorable view of the ACA said the uninsured rate is at a historic low.
5. Thirty-six percent of Democrats, 27 percent of independents and 17 percent of Republicans knew the U.S. uninsured rate is at an all-time low.
