NY nonprofit insurer Fidelis Care looks to expand

Since 2013, New York City-based Fidelis Care, a nonprofit health insurer, has doubled its employee workforce and quadrupled the size of its office in Albany. But that's only the beginning — Fidelis Care wants to increase its reach even more, according to the Albany Business Review.

Over the last five years, the insurer, which ended 2014 with $5.3 billion in revenue, has also vastly increased its member base from approximately 675,000 to 1.4 million.

Fidelis Care has a number of projects lined up. It's hoping to create a call center to serve enrollees across the state. At the end of 2014, it had approximately 2,734 employees. Now Fidelis is planning on hiring 50 IT professionals in Buffalo, along with 40 employees in Colonie.

Rumors are also circulating about the possibility of expanding Fidelis' office in Albany. Although Fidelis Care has not confirmed any details, its landlord and city planning officials have been talking about the possible construction of a new building near Fidelis' current office building.
