Mission, Cigna renew contract

Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health and Cigna entered into a multiyear agreement that ensures Cigna's members have undisrupted access to Mission facilities and providers, the organizations said Oct. 30.

The contract renewal came just before the Oct. 31 deadline. The two organizations had disagreed on proposed rates, and it was uncertain whether a consensus would come before the impending deadline.

Now, Cigna members will continue to be billed at in-network rates when accessing care at Mission.

"Both Mission Health and Cigna are pleased to reach agreement on the mutual goal of ensuring that the people of Western North Carolina have access to the affordable, quality healthcare they need," the organizations said in a news release.
