CMS is distributing $850 million in ACA funds between MinnesotaCare and Essential Plan, the basic health programs of Minnesota and New York, respectively.
The additional funding means MinnesotaCare will receive $100 million and Essential Plan will receive $750 million in 2022, according to a Nov. 10 news release.
Both states are the only ones to implement a basic health program, which provides coverage options for low- and mid-income individuals who do not qualify for Medicaid. The two states provide coverage for 1.1 million people through the programs.
The states will also retroactively receive additional funds for 2020 and 2021.
