Medica returns to Minnesota health insurance exchange in 62 counties

Minnetonka, Minn.-based Medica restored its health plans on Minnesota's health insurance exchange in 62 counties following the installment of a one-week special enrollment period, the Star Tribune reports.

Medica previously pulled its offerings from the exchange after reaching its 50,000 enrollment cap in November. A Medica official told the Star Tribune the insurer did not renew as many policies as anticipated and can provide coverage for an additional 7,000 enrollees.

Officials established the special enrollment period from Feb. 1 to Feb. 8 in light of a new state law providing 25 percent premium rebates to eligible residents.
