New Bedford, Mass.-based Southcoast Health System and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts agreed to a new four-year contract.

The agreement will allow BCBSMA members to continue accessing Southcoast’s facilities and physicians at in-network rates.

The agreement comes after Southcoast’s president accused BCBSMA of caring about revenues more than patients. In a Sept. 16 press release, BCBSMA said a sticking point for the insurer was a “nearly 30 percent” rate increase over the course of four years.
