Joint Banner Health-Aetna health plan names COO

Phoenix-based Banner Health and Aetna named Joanne Mizell COO of their joint health plan, AZ Big Media reports.

Effective immediately, Ms. Mizell will begin overseeing Banner | Aetna’s operations and support goals outlined by the plan’s board of directors and CEO Thomas Grote. Banner Health and Aetna selected Mr. Grote as CEO last year.

In November 2016, Aetna and Banner revealed plans to create and jointly own a health insurance company offering employer-based insurance in Arizona’s Maricopa and Pinal Counties, with eyes toward statewide expansion.
