Humana to merge primary care clinics into new company 'Conviva': 4 things to know

Humana plans to combine its primary care clinics into one company, Humana CEO Bruce Broussard said during a fourth quarter earnings call Wednesday, according to Louisville Business First.

Here are four things to know about the company, called ''Conviva.''

1. Conviva will comprise four Humana subsidiaries: MCCI Medical Group, CAC-Florida Medical Centers, Continucare Medical Centers and MetCare of Florida. The merged entity will continue to provide services in South Florida and Texas.

2. Conviva will take payment from other health insurers, Mr. Broussard said.

3. He hopes the consolidation will make Humana's administrative platform more convenient, Louisville Business First reports. He also intends to give local physicians more leadership opportunities under the combination.

4. "We see [the merger] as platform to continue to grow in the marketplace both via acquisition and an addition organic," Mr. Broussard said. "This [is] a continued step in our belief that primary care with senior focus is a differentiator and an active part of how we feel we can increase the member experience and decrease the cost of care.
