Of the Humana At Home workers affected by the job cuts, 88 are in Ohio and the remainder are in Florida.
Humana spokeswoman Kate Marx told The Enquirer some of the affected workers could be eligible for new positions within Humana and all of those affected will receive job placement help and severance.
Ms. Marx also emphasized that providing home health services will continue to be an important part of Humana’s business.
“It is important to note that helping our members living with chronic conditions maintain their highest possible quality of life remains the goal of Humana At Home and a critical element of Humana’s strategy going forward,” she told The Enquirer.
Humana launched Humana At Home eight years ago for members with the goal of reducing unnecessary hospitalizations and emergency room visits. Through the home health program, nurses with support staff provide care management services to Humana members after a hospital or sub-acute discharge.
