The health insurer informed the department of the error May 11 and said it would notify affected members by mail May 12. Highmark discovered the error March 13 and fixed it in late April.
The EOBs didn’t include members’ Social Security numbers, according to the department.
Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro said, “I’m aware of this Highmark Delaware incident, and will make certain that there was no unreasonable delay in reporting it to its members and the Department of Insurance.”
