HHS partners with pharmacies for ACA enrollment events

The Department of Health and Human Services is working with pharmacies across the nation to encourage enrollment on the health insurance marketplace.

HHS announced the collaboration effort Dec. 10.

The pharmacies involved — which represent 38,000 companies throughout the U.S. — include CVS Health, Good Neighbor Pharmacy, National Community Pharmacists Association, Rite Aid, Thrifty White Pharmacy and Walgreens. All of the pharmacies have trained assisters available to help enrollees, according to The Hill.

We are proud to have thousands of trusted pharmacists and pharmacies working to reach millions of consumers with the information and resources they need to enroll in quality, affordable health coverage this open enrollment," said HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell. "This strong participation is further indication that businesses are investing in open enrollment because they believe it is good for their business and their customers."

Dec. 15 is the enrollment deadline for coverage beginning Jan. 1.
