Hartford HealthCare, UnitedHealthcare sign 2-year contract ahead of deadline

Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare and Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealthcare signed a two-year provider network agreement, The Hartford Business Journal reports.

The parties' previous contract was set to expire April 15, putting patients with coverage from UnitedHealthcare and its subsidiary Oxford Health Plans at risk of paying out-of-network costs to see Hartford HealthCare providers.

Under the new contract, patients with UnitedHealthcare and Oxford health plans "will continue to have in-network access to all Hartford HealthCare facilities and providers participating through Integrated Care Partners," according to the health system's website.

Negotiations between the organizations stalled in March over reimbursement rates.
