David Wagner was named South Florida market lead by Florida Blue, according to the South Florida Business Journal.
Mr. Wagner will replace Penny Shaffer, who helmed the market for the past 16 years, at the end of December.
A 30-year healthcare veteran, Mr. Wagner comes to Florida Blue from Kindred Health, where he was CEO of the same market.
"David has a passion for driving innovation in health care and a proven record of exceeding goals for quality and performance throughout his career," Pat Geraghty, president and CEO of GuideWell and Florida Blue, told the Journal. "He will be an essential leader in our ongoing efforts to address health care access, affordability and equity in South Florida."
