Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield named Cindy Langston as its senior vice president and CIO, making her the first woman to hold the position.
As CIO, Ms. Langston will helm the payer's digital initiatives, including "delivering on a new technology foundation," Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield said in a Jan. 6 news release shared with Becker's.
"Cindy is an experienced and strategic leader with a proven track record of building high-performing teams and delivering results," said Jim Reed, CEO and president of Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield. "She's also tremendously generous with her time and service to our community."
Ms. Langston joined the payer in 2014 as its vice president in information technology. She was eventually promoted to chief analytics data officer, according to the news release.
Prior to joining Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield, Ms. Langston held roles at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and Health Care Service Corp., and has also served as a consultant.
