A contract between health insurer Aetna and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., could be terminated if both sides do not come to an agreement by April 15, according to RWJUH.
On its website, RWJUH said Aetna "has determined that it will not provide RWJUH with the market competitive rates that are required to support a leading academic medical center providing state-of-the-art care to its patients."
However, it said good faith negotiations continue with Aetna, and both sides intend to work out a mutually acceptable agreement.
RWJUH New Brunswick is the only entity within New Brunswick-based Robert Wood Johnson Health System that would be affected by a potential contract termination. Contracts with other health system entities are still in effect.
