CMS upgrades Medicare plan comparer for first time in 10 years

CMS launched a redesign of its online plan searcher amid growing use of mobile devices among Medicare beneficiaries, the agency said Aug. 27.

The new Medicare Plan Finder, upgraded for the first time in a decade, will allow beneficiaries to use smartphones and tablets to shop for traditional Medicare plans alongside Medicare Advantage, Part D prescription drug plans and Medicare supplemental insurance policies.

CMS said the updated tool is part of the Trump administration's eMedicare initiative, which aims to improve online Medicare tools to meet seniors' demands. The percentage of seniors who used a mobile device to find Medicare plans in 2018 was up 40 percent year over year, CMS said.
