Centene names new CFO

Centene has named Drew Asher executive vice president and CFO, effective May 7.

Three things to know:

1. Mr. Asher is succeeding Jeffrey Schwaneke, who will become executive vice president of healthcare enterprises, Centene’s portfolio of high-growth companies outside of its health plan business. The change is part of the company’s executive development strategy.

2. Mr. Asher joined Centene with the closing of the insurer’s acquisition of WellCare Health Plans in January 2020, and has served as executive vice president of specialty. 

3. Prior to Centene, Mr. Asher was CFO of WellCare for six years.
