Amerigroup Louisiana — a managed care organization — and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana signed an agreement to pursue Medicaid-focused collaboration for residents in the state's Medicaid, Medicaid Expansion and LaCHIP programs.
The agreement has no immediate effect on Amerigroup or BCBS of Louisiana health plan members, network providers or associates. Approvals for the transaction and satisfaction of agreement conditions are anticipated to transpire in the first quarter of 2017.
The collaboration will address healthcare challenges of the members the organizations serve, according to the companies. Amerigroup Louisiana manages care for about 229,000 members in Medicaid, Medicaid Expansion and LaCHIP programs. BCBS of Louisiana has more than 1.5 million members.
