BCBS of Alabama appoints president, COO; CEO to step down in 2018

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama named Tim Vines president and COO, and future CEO.

Here are three things to know about Mr. Vines.

1. Mr. Vines joined BCBS 23 years ago. During his time with the insurer, he has served as executive vice president and COO; chief administrative officer; and senior vice president of health management, among several other positions.  

2. BCBS of Alabama CEO Terry Kellogg will step down following a transition period in 2018. Mr. Vines will succeed Mr. Kellogg as president and CEO after the transition.

3. Mr. Vines earned his finance degree from Auburn (Ala.) University
