The health department said 4,353 Medicaid beneficiaries lost their health insurance in September after failing to comply with the regulation. This brings the total number of beneficiaries who have lost coverage to nearly 8,500, according to The Hill. More than 76,000 beneficiaries were subject to the requirement.
Work requirements for Medicaid beneficiaries between the ages of 30 and 49 took effect for an initial group of members June 1 and were rolled out within that subgroup through September. Beneficiaries between the ages of 19 and 29 will face work requirements in 2019 unless they can prove exemption status.
