Anthem to exit ACA marketplaces in Nevada, half of Georgia counties

Indianapolis-based Anthem will depart Nevada's ACA exchange and pull its individual exchange products from more than half of Georgia's counties for 2018, Reuters reports.

Anthem's exit from Nevada's exchange doesn't increase the number of counties projected to have no insurer offering products on the state's marketplace, which stands at 14 of 17 counties.

In Georgia, the scale-back of Anthem subsidiary Atlanta-based Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia will affect 85 of 159 counties. Most of the state's rural counties won't be affected, Reuters reports.

Anthem pointed to federal regulatory uncertainty as a contributor to its decisions in Nevada and Georgia. Last week, the insurer declared plans to exit the majority of California's ACA exchange rating regions it participates in.
