Allina Health | Aetna names Monica Nierengarten new COO

Allina Health | Aetna, the health plan co-helmed by Minneapolis-based Allina Health and Aetna, announced Monica Nierengarten as its new COO.

Ms. Nierengarten is no stranger to the health plan, as she helped launch it as director before moving to Aetna as senior director of joint ventures, according to an Aug. 25 announcement shared with Becker’s

“We are thrilled to have Monica join Allina Health | Aetna as COO,” said Tom Lindquist, CEO of Allina Health | Aetna. “Monica’s vast experience in the health insurance industry and her history with Allina Health | Aetna will be vital to our future success as we continue to implement innovative member experiences and provide differentiated services to our community.”

In her new role, Ms. Nierengarten will further marry Aetna and Allina Health’s collaborations and develop services to enhance customer experiences. 

Prior to the move, Ms. Nierengarten was senior director of transformation for HealthHUBs at Aetna. She also served at Prime Therapeutics and Humana, according to the release.
