Aetna predicts earnings per share will be “at least” $6.90 in 2015

Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna, one of the nation’s largest healthcare insurers, has predicted its earnings per share will be “at least” $6.90 in 2015, according to a presentation from Aetna’s 2014 investor conference.

Aetna’s predictions for operating earnings per share in the first three quarters of 2014 were above consensus estimates. Its total estimate for earnings per share in 2014 is $6.60 to $6.70. Aetna’s goal is to have $100 billion in operating revenues by 2020.

Here are some other points in the presentation:

1. Aetna reported 14 percent operating revenue growth and 15 percent earnings per share growth from 2010-2014.

2. Aetna projects medical membership will be stable in the first quarter of 2015, with 23.4 million members.

3. Aetna’s operating revenue is projected to be more than $62 billion next year compared to this year’s estimated operating revenue of $57 billion to $58 billion.
