Aetna launches provider network focused on suicide prevention

Aetna, a payer owned by CVS Health, has launched a specialty provider network focused on suicide prevention.

The payer collaborated with mental health education platform Psych Hub to "arm Aetna practitioners with no-cost, evidence-based instruction, tools and resources to identify and treat those at risk of suicide," a June 21 news release said.

The program includes a series of eLearning courses designed by Psych Hub and experts from New York City-based Columbia University, Philadelphia-based University of Pennsylvania and Cambridge, Mass.-based Harvard University. Aetna providers will receive certification in suicide prevention after completing the courses and submitting a case study assignment, according to the statement.
