5 things to know about 2017 UnitedHealthcare Medicare products

Minnetonka, Minn.-based payer UnitedHealthcare released its national Medicare Advantage and Part D portfolio for 2017, with offerings expanded to more than 160 counties.

 

Here are five things to know about the 2017 Medicare products.

 

1. Ninety percent of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage beneficiaries will see monthly premiums reduced or unchanged in 2017.


2. The insurer will launch an AARP MedicareRx Walgreens plan for Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. The plan will have a $22.50 monthly premium and $0 co-pays and a $0 deductible for select medications.

 

3. UnitedHealthcare will expand its Medicare product options to 2 million Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.

 

4. More than 80 percent of eligible Medicare consumers in the insurer's coverage area and more than 80 percent of UnitedHealthcare's Medicare Advantage policyholders will be able to choose between two or more plans in 2017.

 

5. Telehealth appointments will be available to more than 115,000 UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage policyholders in Illinois, Iowa, Kentucky, Nebraska, Nevada and Ohio. The virtual services will be offered through American Well and Optum for a $0 co-pay.
