5 payers earn Corporate Insight's gold medals for digital excellence

Corporate Insight awarded five health insurers gold medals for digital member experience.

Corporate Insight's second annual Healthcare Monitor Awards examined digital tools used by more than 30 health insurance firms. Gold, silver and bronze medals are given to insurers across six categories: coverage and benefits, claims details, locators, estimators, pharmacy platforms, and mobile access.

Here are the five insurers receiving gold medals.

1. Aetna earned a gold medal for its pharmacy platform's "excellent drug cost estimator results display and pharmacy search coupled with prescription history and payment flexibility features."

2. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois received a gold medal for its cost estimator's "overall design, ease of use and valuable features, including cost comparisons, provider ratings, hospital quality grades and breakdowns of member costs." BCBS of Illinois earned a second gold medal for mobile access.

3. Like BCBS of Illinois, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts got a gold medal for its cost estimator.

4. Cigna earned a gold medal in the coverage and benefits category "for in-depth coverage, an accessible Request or Print Your ID Card page and easily understandable terminology." Cigna received another gold medal for its provider locator's "strong findability; available search types; and result display, navigation and relevance."

5. UnitedHealthcare got a gold medal for "its easily findable, in-depth claims information and archive."
