20 insurance startups join innovation hub

Investment and innovation firm Plug and Play has tapped at least 20 technology startups in the insurance industry to join its innovation platform.

The 12-week program connects startups to some of the world's largest insurance corporations and investment firms. The program aims to give startups the opportunity to grow and advance their business through corporate sponsorship, corporate adoption and relationship building.

Plug and Play selected the following insurers, listed in alphabetical order.

  1. Amodo connects insurers to the new generation of customers.
  2. BetterView provides payers with building and property data, powered by drones.
  3. ClientDesk is a consumer-facing platform that helps payers digitize their client experience.
  4. Cover is a mobile insurance application.
  5. Cytora provides data to help insurers identify, quantify and price risk.
  6. DigitalGenius is a customer service platform that uses deep learning and artificial intelligence.
  7. Driveway helps insurers find safe drivers.
  8. Dropin is a live-video platform for policy underwriting, claims and retention.
  9. Enigma lets insurers process and draw insights from encrypted data using blockchain technology.
  10. Inbenta is an AI-powered search and chat application for eCommerce.
  11. Isaac Re is a marketplace for insurance risks.
  12. Livegenic is a real-time video platform that connects to every part of the claims ecosystem to streamline loss documentation.
  13. NAUTO uses hardware and a smart cloud to give insurers a true view of every driver.
  14. Omniscience automates underwriting and risk intelligence tasks.
  15. Rainvow builds contracts with underwriters using blockchain technology.
  16. RiskGenius helps insurers review policies faster with machine learning.
  17. Safesite generates a real-time risk profile for customers in high-risk environments.
  18. Slice Labs is a vehicle plug-in device that provides emergency communication, crash response and GPS capabilities.
  19. Sureify gives insurance companies digital engagement tools to transform the insurer-policyholder relationship.
  20. Vivametrica created predictive wearable analytics devices to provide personalized health risk assessments for insurance underwriting and precision health management.
