Authorities found damage from a single gunshot in a restroom after responding to a report of a gun being fired at the hospital around 9:40 a.m. CST. No injuries were reported.
Police later tracked down the suspected shooter, who said he “accidentally” discharged the weapon. The situation prompted the hospital to lock down for about an hour.
“At MercyOne safety is our top priority, and our team responded quickly to ensure everyone’s well-being,” the hospital said in a statement. “We understand that such events can be concerning, but please be reassured that the situation has been resolved.
