Scott Marshall, 40, voluntarily committed himself to Charleston General Tuesday and was on his way to another hospital when he claimed he began hallucinating and believed he was being kidnapped. He assaulted the medic in the back of the ambulance, and when the driver stopped the vehicle to check on his partner, Mr. Marshall got into the driver’s seat and sped off. The driver was left on the highway, while the other medic remained in the back.
While driving, Mr. Marshall called 911 to report he had been kidnapped. Charleston Police intercepted the ambulance and arrested Mr. Marshall before taking him back to Charleston General. After being discharged, he was brought to South Central Jail in Charleston.
