Valley Baptist Medical Center to close 37-bed behavioral health facility due to reimbursement changes

Valley Baptist Medical Center-Brownsville (Texas) will shutter its 37-bed behavioral health facility Aug. 20, The Brownsville Herald reports.

The behavioral health program, launched 10 years ago, is experiencing greater operating expenses and a "challenging reimbursement environment," Valley Baptist Director of Marketing Teri Retana told The Brownsville Herald.

Despite the closure, outpatient intensive programs at VBMC-Brownsville and VBMC-Harlingen (Texas) will continue.
