'Staffing situation' forces Baylor Scott & White hospital to suspend labor, delivery services

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Brenham (Texas) has suspended labor and delivery services until Dec. 21, according to The Banner-Press.

"We are committed to providing safe, quality and compassionate labor and delivery services and keeping the public informed of changes," reads a statement from the hospital. "Due to an unforeseen staffing situation, at this time, we are unable to continue scheduled deliveries."

The hospital is asking expectant mothers to make other arrangements for their deliveries.

Although the hospital did not specify what the "unforeseen staffing situation" was, the physician handling deliveries at the hospital is on leave until Dec. 21, and the hospital has reportedly struggled to find a replacement for him.
