Shuttered Oklahoma hospital may reopen as urgent care center

Pauls Valley (Okla.) Regional Medical Center, which closed last October, may soon reopen as an urgent care center, according to the Pauls Valley Daily Democrat.

Three members of the city council and local hospital authority granted approval Aug. 27 to Chickasa, Okla.-based Southern Plains Medical Group to move forward with its plan to reopen a  medical services facility in the area.

Currently, plans call for the urgent care center to open within weeks, according to the report.

The hospital closed in October 2018, despite efforts to keep it open by raising money through GoFundMe and soliciting donations from country music star Toby Keith.
