Ohio hospital evacuates several babies after reports of smoke

Dayton, Ohio-based Miami Valley Hospital relocated nine to 10 babies from its women’s center after an overheated motor produced smoke, according to WHIO TV.

Following hospital protocol, Miami Valley Hospital staff moved the infants from the Berry Women’s Center to another area in the hospital as a precaution.

“Fortunately … they were infants, they were babies, so they could be relocated rather quickly and easily,” Dayton District Fire Chief James Rose told WHIO TV.

The smoke was contained in the area and since been ventilated. No one was injured from the incident.
