Idaho hospital goes on 2-hour lockdown as police negotiate with armed man in the parking lot

Pocatello, Idaho-based Portneuf Medical Center was placed on lockdown for more than two hours March 4 while police negotiated with an armed man who was inside a vehicle in the hospital's parking lot, according to the East Idaho News.

The man in the south parking lot allegedly threatened to harm himself. As a precaution, the hospital went on lockdown around 7:30 p.m. There was no active shooter.

Patients were still being accepted into the emergency room through the north entrance. They had to be let in by police.

Around 10:05 p.m., the man who threatened himself in the parking lot was officially in custody and normal operations resumed.

No one was harmed in the incident.
