Philadelphia-area hospitals are preparing for an influx of people heading into the city to celebrate the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl win during the parade Thursday, ABC 6 News reports.
Here are three things to know about the event.
1. Hahnemann University Hospital, one of the closest hospitals to the parade route, has been conducting drills to prepare for emergencies regarding large crowds since the pope's visit in 2015, The Inquirer reports. The hospital will offer staff sleeping space for Thursday and Friday evening and reschedule all outpatient surgeries for Friday.
2. Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, which is also located near the parade route, will convert a significant number of inpatient consultations to telemedicine appointments Thursday using its JeffConnect telemedicine system, according to ABC 6 News.
3. Penn Medicine officials said its hospitals in downtown Philadelphia — the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Hospital and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center — will also be fully staffed for Thursday's parade.
Officials said in a statement the system has also offered all patients with outpatient appointments Thursday the opportunity to reschedule their visits, ABC 6 News reports.
